Public.com

Investing for those who take it seriously.

Building the Copenhagen Development Center alongside the CTO.

When Public.com set out to make public markets in the USA accessible to everyone, they chose Copenhagen as the engineering engine room behind the ambition. With the headquarters in New York and only the CTO and a small handful of people on the ground in Denmark, GlobeSearch was trusted to build the Development Center out from that early core.

Public.com approached us in 2020 - more ambition and ideas than results at that point, and a Danish footprint that consisted of the CTO and a few selected team members. The brief was clear: establish a professional software Development Center in Copenhagen capable of carrying a US fintech challenger into hyper-growth. With more than $400M raised from leading VCs, that ambition was put on the fast lane.

We responded with a dual-track strategy. On one side, we activated our network and domain expertise to move senior engineers, team leads, QA specialists and managers at the pace the business demanded. On the other, we partnered with PR agency HELP on a deliberate employer-brand play - placed stories in Børsen and DR, sustained presence on LinkedIn - to make Public.com a destination of choice for senior Danish tech talent.

The Copenhagen organisation grew from a small founding group to around fifty. Today the strategy is laser-focused on the US market, with a planned IPO in the next two to three years as the next major milestone. International expansion remains a possibility further down the line - one we'd personally love to see, as we'd happily use the platform ourselves.

More recently, Public.com has moved decisively into AI - and were the first to introduce an actual AI brokerage, taking the category another step forward.

Building an engineering hub for a hyper-growth US fintech demands more than recruiters - it demands a partner who can carry both the search and the story.

GlobeSearch

The brief

  • Build the Copenhagen Development Center alongside the CTO
  • Senior engineers, team leads, QA and engineering management
  • Build employer brand to compete for top Danish tech talent
  • Move at US-startup velocity inside the Nordic market

Microsoft

Two decades alongside Microsoft in Denmark.

From a handful of employees to a national tech institution.

When GlobeSearch first sat down with Microsoft in 1991, the Danish subsidiary was a handful of people with an outsized vision. What followed was a partnership that helped shape both companies for two decades.

Across twenty years we worked closely with Microsoft as the organisation scaled in Denmark - from country managers and commercial leadership to sales, consulting and specialist hires across every layer of the business.

The relationship reached deep into the Microsoft ecosystem: hundreds of placements over time, including a dedicated recruitment partnership with the Microsoft Development Center in Vedbæk, and earlier collaborations with Damgaard and Navision before they became part of the Microsoft family.

The longevity wasn't accidental. It was built on two decades of trust, a shared understanding of what 'good' looked like, and the kind of relationships that turn a search firm into an extension of the leadership team.

From 1995 to 2003, I worked closely with GlobeSearch across several leadership roles at Microsoft. Our collaboration began while I was responsible for Microsoft Consulting Services in the Nordics, continued during my tenure as Managing Director of Microsoft Denmark, and later as EMEA Vice President responsible for Northern Europe.

I have always known GlobeSearch as a professional, competent and customer-oriented partner. They operated with high integrity, openness and trustworthiness, and consistently delivered value as a recruitment partner.

I can highly recommend GlobeSearch to any company looking for a trusted and insightful recruitment partner.

Jens Moberg

Former Country Manager, Microsoft Denmark

The brief

  • Country management and commercial leadership
  • Sales, consulting and pre-sales specialists
  • Dedicated partnership with the Vedbæk Dev Center
  • Continuity across Damgaard and Navision into Microsoft

Tjekvik

Technology leadership built for international growth.

Building technology leadership for international growth.

When GlobeSearch became involved with Tjekvik, the company was on an ambitious international growth journey. The organisation was highly distributed, with a small Danish headquarters, around 20 developers working remotely across Europe and sales offices in selected markets.

The immediate need was a CTO. But our assessment was that the assignment was broader: Tjekvik needed a technology leader who could work closely with the CEO and translate the company's ambitions into a scalable technology organisation and platform.

Founder and CEO Christian initially saw advantages in keeping the role independent of the Danish headquarters. Based on our understanding of Tjekvik's culture, ambitions and development, we recommended a different approach: a CTO working closely with the CEO, involved early in strategic decisions and able to build the technology foundation required for international growth — including scalability, security, performance and long-term maintainability.

We introduced Rasmus as an initial candidate to test that assessment. The meeting confirmed the match, while also validating our understanding of the assignment. We subsequently engaged additional strong candidates from our network, giving Tjekvik the opportunity to compare different profiles before ultimately choosing Rasmus.

The relationship continued beyond the CTO appointment.

As Tjekvik entered its next phase of development, GlobeSearch was asked to strengthen the company's executive leadership and recruited a new CFO. The process included dialogue with Standout Capital, who were at the time exploring Tjekvik's future. Tjekvik was subsequently acquired by Standout Capital at the valuation the company was seeking.

GlobeSearch then continued to support Tjekvik in building the leadership layer below the executive team, recruiting several strategic positions and supporting the CEO with market mapping and research on important strategic questions.

From one critical technology appointment to a broader leadership partnership, GlobeSearch became a trusted partner in Tjekvik's international growth.

GlobeSearch

The brief

  • CTO search working closely with the CEO and the company's ambitions
  • CFO search as part of professionalising C level leadership
  • Leadership layer below the executive team and strategic positions
  • Market mapping and research on strategic questions for the CEO

SMS Passcode

Specialist software security, scaled to acquisition.

A specialist partnership all the way to a US acquisition.

In 2012 we began working with SMS Passcode, a focused Danish player in two-factor authentication. The DNA fit was immediate - a specialist software business, a specialist software search firm.

From the outset we contributed to SMS Passcode's growth on both fronts of the business: senior leadership and technical specialists in equal measure, across commercial and engineering. The brief never sat still - as the product matured, so did the calibre and shape of the people we placed alongside it.

What carried the partnership over years was alignment: shared objectives, mutual trust, and an honest read of what each next hire needed to unlock. That foundation made GlobeSearch a natural part of the leadership conversation, not just the hiring one.

The chapter closed when US cybersecurity leader Entrust acquired SMS Passcode - a milestone the team built towards, and one we were privileged to support along the way.

For several years, GlobeSearch was SMS PASSCODE's primary recruitment partner and played an important role in building our organization. GlobeSearch was responsible for recruiting a number of key profiles across leadership, technical, and commercial functions.

I always found GlobeSearch to be professional, efficient, and highly attuned to our business and culture. GlobeSearch consistently delivered high-quality candidates and was a valuable partner throughout the entire recruitment process.

I can highly recommend GlobeSearch to companies seeking a competent and insightful recruitment partner.

Claus E. Kotasek

Former CEO, SMS PASSCODE

Our success at SMS PASSCODE relied on developing top-tier software, which demanded highly skilled programmers.

GlobeSearch stood out by delivering fast and accurate results, even during a period of intense competition for IT professionals. They immediately understood our exact requirements and found the right profiles, resulting in several successful hires for my team. Working with Tomas Talbro was a pleasure; he is highly professional, making the entire collaboration straightforward and efficient.

GlobeSearch are easy to work with and simply deliver on their promises. I give them my highest recommendations.

Claus Rosendal

co-founder and former Chairman and CTO, SMS PASSCODE

The brief

  • Senior commercial and technical leadership
  • Specialist engineering and product hires
  • Trusted advisor through scale-up phase
  • Continuity of partner and judgment over years

Planday

Building the leadership and technology platform for international scale

Building the leadership and technology platform for international scale

In 2014, GlobeSearch was invited by CEO Christian Brøndum to enter into a dialogue with Planday, a highly ambitious SaaS company on a significant international growth journey.

The company was preparing for substantial continued growth and expected to go through several investment rounds. To support that journey, Planday needed to strengthen both its technology and product organisation, as well as its financial leadership.

Planday had been founded by Mikkel Lomholt, who was still CTO and had built the original platform. Over time, the product had grown successfully, but the technology had also evolved into a more monolithic architecture. If the company was to scale internationally, both the architecture and engineering organisation needed to be strengthened.

Our first assignment was therefore to find a VP of Engineering with the experience to build the architecture and engineering organisation required for the next stage of growth.

The assignment was followed by a long series of searches across the organisation. GlobeSearch recruited a CFO to strengthen the company for its expected growth and investment journey, as well as a Head of UX & Design, Software Engineering Team Lead and a number of strong software engineers.

The work was not simply about filling individual positions. The roles were connected to a broader transformation of the company, strengthening the leadership, product organisation and engineering capabilities needed to support international expansion.

Planday subsequently completed several investment rounds and continued its international growth before ultimately being acquired by Xero.

The collaboration ended with the acquisition, but the relationships built during that period have continued. We still have strong relationships with many of the people we worked with and placed at Planday during this exciting period.

Building the organisation behind a growing SaaS company: What began with a search for a VP of Engineering developed into a broader partnership focused on strengthening the leadership, technology and product organisation of a SaaS company preparing for international scale.

GlobeSearch

The brief

  • Technology architecture for international scale
  • Financial leadership for growth and investment rounds
  • UX, design and engineering organisation
  • Broader leadership and product capability

Thanks to their strong market position, they consistently succeed in engaging senior and passive candidates who are rarely accessible through LinkedIn Recruiter alone.

They quickly understand the specific requirements of the business and consistently deliver a strong and highly qualified candidate pool.
